Making the past matter – enriching the present

The Ragged School Museum is a small independent museum and charity (No. 800538), which has been welcoming visitors for over 20 years. We rely on the generosity of individuals, companies, organisations and grant-giving bodies to enable us to continue to serve schools, our local community and visitors from all over the globe.

This support is essential to enable us to develop, and to provide high quality services for children and families in London and beyond. The Ragged School Museum is the only substantial survivor of Dr Barnardo’s extraordinary work in the East End of London and is in a unique position to tell the story of the struggle for universal education.

The Museum currently earns 70% of its income from its activities with the rest raised from trusts and foundations. This reverses the situation of ten years ago. The Museum’s future planning is based on the assumption that funds from public sources are unlikely to increase in the foreseeable future.

Please consider helping us keep the Ragged School Museum open by making a donation to the Trust, of any amount. Perhaps you might consider a legacy to the Trust in your will, or a regular payment to help us plan our future with greater certainty.

We are a registered charity and so can benefit from any gifts made under the Gift Aid scheme.
